Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, the design bridges the Mövenpick brand with a new spa and restaurant identity through materiality and atmosphere. The interiors are conceived as distinct yet complementary retreats from the outside world, with each functional space—spa and restaurant—guiding visitors on its own sensory journey. In both settings, spaces gradually shift from raw and textured to calm and restorative, tailored to their specific purpose. Sublime material choices fuse Japanese minimalism with locally rooted elements, creating a unique balance between cultural references and contemporary design. In the spa, treatment rooms emphasize intimacy, while an intricate wooden screen with a diffusing acrylic layer recalls the soft glow of a traditional shōji, reinforcing tranquility. In the restaurant, similar materiality and atmospheric layering create a refined, immersive dining environment that resonates with the spa’s serene sensibility, unifying the brand experience across both spaces.
